BODY DOUBLING & CO-WORKING SESSIONS

What the heck is Body Doubling?! Isn’t that where you have a stunt double? Isn’t co-working what you do at your job?

The short answer? Yep - you’re totally right in the traditional sense. But in therapeutic settings, both “body doubling” and “co-working” take on a deeper, more intentional meaning. While the theme stays the same (being alongside someone), the purpose shifts from productivity to presence, regulation, and support.

Body doubling, also known as co-working, is the simple yet powerful practice of having another person present, physically or virtually, while you focus on a task. It’s a gentle form of external support that can increase focus, motivation, and emotional regulation. Whether you’re working, tidying up, or just trying to get unstuck, having someone alongside you can make it feel easier, less overwhelming, and more doable.

Cowork sessions can be done in 2 - different ways :

  • Virtual appointments via Video chat

  • In-person Body Double Sessions

VIRTUAL
CO-WORKING :

Virtual co-working is a rising trend rooted in something deeply human: the need to feel seen, supported, and not alone in our efforts. At its core, virtual co-working is the practice of working alongside someone else over a video or audio connection - each person focusing on their own task, with the simple presence of the other helping to provide structure, accountability, and emotional regulation. Research shows that co-regulation, the calming of our nervous system through connection with another person, can reduce anxiety, increase focus, and even help manage executive dysfunction, especially in neurodivergent individuals. The mere presence of another person can activate a subtle sense of accountability and motivation, while lowering the stress hormones that often build up when we feel overwhelmed or isolated.

This approach is being embraced by students, remote workers, creatives, and folks managing chronic illness or neurodivergence. In a virtual co-working session, people might tidy up their space, respond to emails, write papers, work on art, do administrative tasks, or even sort through emotional to-dos like bills or journaling. For some, it’s simply a quiet space to fold laundry while someone else organizes their desktop. For others, it’s a way to engage in focused deep work, with breaks for mindful check-ins and emotional grounding. Whether it’s to tackle the mundane or the meaningful, virtual co-working offers a soft structure and sense of companionship, reminding us that progress doesn’t have to be solitary to be productive.

Body doubling is a powerful support tool for neurodivergent folks, especially those with ADHD or chronic illness-related brain fog.

Let’s be honest - doing the boring stuff alone can be a drag! Grocery shopping, meal prepping, re-potting plants, cleaning out that scary junk drawer . . . it’s all way easier (& way more fun) with company! Sometimes, you don’t need help doing the thing, you just need someone there to make it feel less like a chore and more like a cozy little mission. That’s where I come in! We can tackle the mundane together, side by side, with soft encouragement and zero judgment.

Whether it’s a mini shopping spree, organizing your closet, knocking out errands, or finally tackling that pile of laundry that’s been giving you the side-eye, in-person body doubling makes the overwhelming feel possible. With someone by your side, even the most mundane tasks can feel lighter and less emotionally loaded. This practice taps into the science of co-regulation, where the presence of a calm, supportive person helps regulate your nervous system and reduce stress. Studies have shown that body doubling can significantly improve task initiation and completion, particularly for those with ADHD or executive dysfunction. Some research suggesting as much as a 60 - 70% increase in follow-through when tasks are done with a body double present. Whether we’re checking off your to-do list, prepping meals together, or simply sharing quiet space while you work, the goal is simple : you don’t have to do it alone.

Body doubling sessions are a bit gentler on emotional bandwidth compared to traditional touch therapy - they're more about quiet presence, light encouragement, and shared focus than deep emotional processing or physical connection. Because these sessions require less intensive energy and preparation on my end, they’re offered at a lower, more accessible rate while still providing meaningful support and companionship.
